what are legal motors to run in FE hydro class

A 650xs is legal, but a 650x or 700x is not legal. Rules say "no made for racing motors" the x motors were made for OPC racing and are not advertised in the regular Merc brochure. This makes them illegal in Mod. The XS motor was advertised in the regular brochure with all the regular fishing motors.

You would have to remove the powerhead from the tower and put it on a 10" stick tower to be competitive. Tall motors won't go around corners quick enough to be competitive.

Few people have been able to make the 650xs powerhead competitive with the OMC 49 and none of them have done so on a long term basis in recent times.
