  • Time to Learn the OMC Gear Foot

Well its time I learned all I can about the OMC 15 gear foot; it appears ours needs some attention. Can anyone share with me their knowledge on this topic so as to guide me through this process? I am interested in everything from parts availability to lash settings. What can you tell me about this?

What is the model # of the motor the gear case came from ? Get a factory service manual ,and parts list. Many older parts are still available from BMC.

I have no idea the origin of the gear foot. I understand they were made by Sidewinder but beyond that I am in the dark.

I do have an OMC A class Engine Parts Book that shows the illustrated parts breakdown along with corresponding part numbers but there are no inspection, repair or adjustment data included. I also have an OMC Johnson factory service manual for the fishing motor family but that leaves me high and dry on the gear foot aspect of the unit.

      Who is BMC?

He's talking about the powerhead, not the foot. He doesn't realize you are talking about the racing lower unit.
