      Lost foam

Lost foam is a casting technique used to make castings. The foam is consumed in the casting process and therefore it is lost.

Three ways to raise compression is to change piston type, pad the cylinder head or move the crankshaft closer to the head. If this is done then ports must also be moved higher to compensate for the move of the crankshaft and while your at it you can do a Brinkman port job. Any of the above require engine disassembly and machine work.

If you'd like check out this link about lost foam casting versus old school green sand casting methods. It gives a good overview of the process. Make sure you scroll thru all the pages on the topic. The page turner is at the bottom of each page.
