  • Y102 Question

I have a 102 question for all you guru's out there...
There is 2 small tubes sticking out the bottom of the intake manifold just behind the carb. They are about 1/4 in dia. and about an inch long. If you look on page 10 of the Y102 manual, they are on the intake manifold assy number 56. It also shows 2 hoses (numbers 45 and 46) going to them.

What are they and what are they supposed to be hooked to?

Also, is there a consensus on which NGK and Champion plugs are best for CSH with the Y102?

    Thanks,
    Pete

The two tubes are for circulating warm water from the engine cooling system through the base of the carb to keep the carb from icing up during cold weather.

If you have a 14 mm head I would use NGK B9ES or B10ES. If you have an 18mm head, you'll need spark plug reducers to 14mm and use one heat range cooler spark plugs than normal.

Why do you need to go a heat range cooler with the 'reducers' in place?? Sooo are you advocating a '10' heat range if using the reducer?

The reducers hold heat and transfer it to the plug. Jack
