ide like something similiar to that but be able to run my stock trigger and of course the stock hub to fire it , and stock starter,,,,,any chance????of course on the 49.9 v-rude
wouldnt want to try to sling big magnets
maybe would work with a chainsaw ignition.
I know another guy that would be interested in one.
But the trigger magnets are already installed in the hub and are small?? So why not just run an OMC trigger?? We don't need the charging magnets anymore, we've got that part figured out.
p.s. Nice drawing, looks just like the one I designed for the MSD on the OMC 49er
Sattler Racing R-15 350cc Pro Alcohol Hydro TEAM VRP The Original "Lunatic Fringe"
my opinion and couple others,,, msd sucks on the 49er,,, and the money ouch,,, soo stock cheep parts would be fantastic on your system anthony and to fit stock starter/location,,, iam deff interested..
have power dont need timeing curve hehehe,,,i agree but msd sooo expensive and deffhas problems from what i saw at the nats,,, they all took them off and put there standard ignit on and ran fine..mmmmm
A racer once said A lot of power is not enough, too much power is just right.
The nats isnt a good place to experiment with ignitions.
The OMC power packs on the 45 only lasted for a weekend.
PWC use MSD for the Race Ski's with good reliability..............
Any way
Do you have a pic/desciption of the ignition you are using? or is it some kind of secret?
Looked at stock wheel & Trigger pretty easy,
Machine the Donor flywheel to new dia, run bolt pattern program
Machine Pulley Plate Thingy
Make/buy some spacers
Have a ring gear cnc'd from 1/4" Stainless
Check T.I.R. Total Indicated Runout on lathe.
The second 45 wheel I made was sent to the balancing shop they said it was dead nuts and did not need balancing Nothing like a tight Bridgeport.
anthony,,,,right now iam running the latest stock 3 holer ignition,, power pak and 11 lbs flywheel,,, but have a flywheel with the magnets machined out now 8lbs,,,, that i will be testing ..the inverter to power the power pak with 300 volts,,,,,, first inverter didnt last still have to test the 2nd version,,, it is being produced by a very very well known ignition company for me,,,, also have a 44xs/v-6 flywheel with flex plate adapted to omc hub to try,,,, just some ideas for ya

Ok will make the 49er wheel's compatable with stock trigger & starter.
Also machine timinig marks in same location.
Still think that guy in mid-west who uses chainsaw ignition parts would be
worth looking at.
a.... ever seen the 3 holer crank flex,,, i sure have it dose alot,,, when i set record had konig ignition on it set at .012 gap and would eventually wipe one out,,, ,,, that and my 65 hp block have a adapter to fit the newer 70 hp stater on had it all machined and now the magnets still rubbing once in awhile,, soo deff know the cranks do flex alot.. when i blew over the ignition and believe it or not the starter fine got water out with starter and ran the motor like a stocker and still running all the same parts no worries... reliability key i guess.. and still was showing 93 mph at lawrence when the water was decent witch wasnt much this year
Following your discussion with great interest. I think form-e one is on the right track with battery powered ignition and inverter produced AC feed to powerpack in order to get rid of the magnets. I still hope he might some day be able to give me a quote for an inverter for my 4-cylinder Force (`98 model with the Merc parts).
Anyway, over Christmas I will make up drawing for a battery ignition type forged aluminium (got material in garage) flywheel to be machined by Anthony, using stock hub with trigger ring. Once the 4-cyl has been sorted, the 5-cyl will follow.
