Pro/Mod cavitation plate

I notice most pro/mod guys don't use any sort of plate above the prop. Was wondering why they're not used (like on every other outboard motor).

One of the reasons is the prop wash hits the plate and causes the back of the boat to lift from the water force hitting it. It actually serves no use full purpose or advantage except to divert the rooster tail downward . ....Bob
