  • 70hp OMC performance mods?

What are some mods that are the best bang for the buck? Are there any performance lower units, carb mods, prop recommendations? I don't want a full race set-up just want my boat to haul butt!

I will be at the Jesup, Ga race, I live about 40 min from there and run the Altamaha often! See you There!

    Some...

Low Cost mods is to port it yourself, a file and some time and there you go. Ed Runne has some of the winningest engines out there in Formula E, he is on this website and might be able to help you with some hints. Benson is as well, he is from Ca/Wa. Lower units, use the Bass or Yamato Hatchet, no speed secrets there. Carbs, the stock carbs that come on the Stinger Motors are good.

Props, well, that is something that each boat likes a differnet version of. Talk to Dewald, Sidor, Brinkman, Pinner, or Hopkins. They are all good.

Any web sites to find the lower units?

I have no idea where to start looking for the carbs or the lower units. I have contemplated taking it apart to port it but it runs well at the moment and I don't even know where to port it to do the most good with doing too much...any thoughts?.

        Bass lower unit

You can call Sid Bass about a lower unit. His number is 360 373-3839.

          hiroller,

What kind of boat are you running the motor on?
          ...

OMC FE/SE powerhead parts for sale. Kurcz ported block, Mod 50 pistons and cylinder head, exhaust, etc.

            Don't Port

Then Don't Port it, prop it to run fast. Stock porting it will have a ton of torq.

                Whatever!!!!

If I remember correctly you were the fastest FE at Lawrence Lake. Missed you this weekend. It was 85 blue sky, and glass water all weekend. Records were ripe. Cops had me on radar @ 100mph. Turn and burn chesters dead.

I suggest that if you enjoy running your 350 hydro without a capsule that in the future you never run faster than 99.99MPH. That radar gun probably was reading a lttle fast, right? Please disregard previous speed estimate APBA, insurance folks, etc.

C-Mod recor was bumped ever so slightly.

And Dennis Keller was 1/10 off the FE record I believe

                        David,

You are VERY correct. I'm sure the cops were rounding up, I mean don't they always?

Also, it was not an APBA sanctioned event. So lets just all forget about this little comment.

                          Faulty Radar

These could have been the same police that clocked an 18-year old on a street Honda bike in Minnesota at 205 MPH!! That's moving...

No doubt that the VRP 350's are able to stroll.

                            NO-show-for-the Stones.....

Well Mike S. I was going to try to make this race... I knew Dennis keller and the "Nasty Crew" were going to be close to the record. I just didn't have time to finish balancing the titanium rods.. the newly casted pistons are still in the castings' ....and the boat was still on the road ... coming back from the wind tunnel testing.... Just not sure if I can go on trying to keep up with the Super fast high budget .....cost not an option teams Like (Nasty .... and the Andy/H&S Marine) teams... Sure is good to see them going so fast though... !!!! Good job Andy!! Still tryin' to nail down that Big sponser to make it through next year... The R&D is KILLING me!!! I think we are going to the APBA race though... time to let the pieces fly!!!! and I think you mean "eat my rubber and burn some dust liver lips"!!! wheeew.. time to hit the bar!!

                            Slowest FE on the water!!

Is this before or after the balancing of the titanium rods?

By the way, my Titanium rods are holding up great! Thanks for balancing them for me.
