I have a Sorensen Hungary Gippo CSR. I am running a side fin that is 1/4" thk t-6 aluminum, sharpened on the outside only. Measured with a straight edge across the bottom it protrudes 4" beyond the boat bottom. I am also using a small "chicken fin" on the transom. Is this side fin about right? The boat has no turning or wandering problems now,as long as it is not too choppy in the turn. I,ve noticed some guys are running fins that appear to be quite a bit longer on these boats. Any good advise?

Longer fins are great for turning. When you get in the back of the boat in the straight a way to air it out, that long fin has a tendency to grab a wave and dart the bow of the boat one way or the other. It happens quick, real quick, like NOW! I've gone on my head from it... 4" is in the ballpark for depth, and I have no experience with the rear fin, never needed one. Good luck, GregFuture J dad!
