  • 5 % nitro blend methanol

i have this 2 cylinder 72mm bore 61mm stroke engine.motor have 7:1 stock compression with maximum operating rpm on 4500 to 5500 running on gas.i was going to run it on methanol with 5% nitro blend.any thought what is the maximum compression can i go with this convertion?best regard roy.

It's been a long time since I've run any nitro and I don't know anything about compression ratios. It was in a 250cc (back then known as 15 c.i.) Konig. I had to run bigger jets and change ignition timing. And as I remember 20% nitro was about the minimum amount to get any increase over straight methanol. So 5% probably won't do much good. Regardless, I would buy a bunch of extra pistons to have on hand if I were you.

      ROY, About Methanol

      Roy,
What kind of engine is it? What kind of pistons? What size and make of carburetor?
If you've got descent pistons, I'd go to 9.2/1 compression ratio to start. You'll want much bigger jets and probably a bigger carburetor. I've got all the carb's and main jets, if you need them.

Nitro %? Very tricky. It's never good when you get it wrong.
