  • Y80 seals R&R

Never been inside the Y80 and will be going into the engine to replace the upper and lower crankshaft oil seals and O rings as well as the oil seals and O ring in the gear foot and the driveshaft oil seal at the bottom of the tower.

Any tips on the oil seals removal and replacement is appreciated.

For example I noticed that the driveshaft oil seal at the bottom of the tower is pressed into a retainer. Does the retainer get removed then pull the seal out. Is there a special tool to remove the retainer or how to? The clockwise tail cone removal and pushing the prop shaft out is straight forward but is the plastic seal cap with the 4 little holes at the tail cone end a left or right hand thread?

Are the crankshaft oil seals in the power head in retainers like in the driveshaft at the bottom of the tower?

    Thanks
