102 Gear foot help

Right now one of our gear feet for our 102 is making milk shakes. Bought a new seal from Ric and made a socket to fit in the slots on the cone. Have tried everthing to break the cone loose and no luck. The slots are now starting to look ugly and we are no where. Has anyone had to use a little heat to get the sucker loose. No problem with the seal retainer.

P.S. we were told the treads are reversed so we are trying to turning clock wise to loosen.

In this case the cone comes off in clockwise direction viewed from the rear same as the Merc quicksilver units.

Change the seal also on the lower end of the
drive shaft housing . Do not us any heat on
unit at cone,us a long handle on wrench to
remove cone clockwise.

Can I replace the seal with out removing the cone? I have used a 3/4 breaker bar on our socket and nothing. That baby is tight

I was told there could be a set screw holding it inside the case but I don't see one.

You can replace the seal with out removing the C nut call Bob Gollar an he will tell you how to do it . He told me but I can't remember just how. Good luck. PM me an I will give you his #.

I just replaced a shaft seal by using a curved dentist tool to punch through the inplace seal and pulled it out. The new seal was then intalled. Had no problem pulling the old seal out.
