  • To paint, or not to paint.....

Since I polished the OMC gear foot last year, it looks pretty, but man, what a pain to keep shining. Even worse than the wheels on our dump trucks....

So, was thinking about just painting the Merc gear case and adapter plate to cut down the PIA factor.

Is there any speed difference from polish to paint? does not hardly seem like there would be.

    Thoughts?

I use Never Dull on all mine comes in a can with wadding just pull a piece off wipe in on and shine comes right back. I dont think it matters if painted or not as long as the paint doesnt chip then it would matter. Chipped spots would cause air bulbbles to get to the prop. Some say that filling the screw holes makes a differance for the same reason but never tried it to see note not leagel in A but is in B
Destiny is a matter of chance,it is a matter of choice; it is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved.

If I was considering painting I would strip it down and take it to have it powder coated and baked. Much more durable finish IMO.

        polished, polished, polished.

Pour a few drops of h2o on a freshly polished foot, it will run off like i don't know what. I hit every foot during the week after a race weekend with some Mothers, only takes a minute and will be darn near chrome looking for the next weekend. As long as you keep up with it they will be easy to make 'pop' in just a minute or two. I have to thank Tom Cronk for geting my gearfeet to that high luster polish in the first place. Theres no shine like Mothers! GL
