I have a few questions... Are the internals for a standard 30H case the same as the 25XS newer designed case?

Would it be difficult to make a powerhead adapter for the 25ss powerhead instead of the newer one?

What Clamp assembly/swivel pin saddle is used for the tower?

I'm assuming gearcase? Driveshaft, gears and possibly propshaft are different, they rest are the same, from what I remember.

Would it be difficult to make a powerhead adapter for the 25ss powerhead instead of the newer one? Most likely, but a good machinist can do anything.

It's the 20/25hp Merc 1985ish and newer.

Are you trying to put a 25ss powerhead on a 25xs driveshaft housing? That's what we did for our 400 (25) mod engine. I used the xs driveshaft housing and exhaust adapter and used a 3/4 inch aluminum plate to secure the powerhead to the adapter. Of course I didn't have to worry about exhaust because we run a megaphone.
I also used a coupled driveshaft. If you have a complete 30-h gearcase you could use it by cutting the shaft off and getting a donor shaft for the crank end from a fishing motor. You would probably want 16/21 gears instead of 1/1 that the 30-h would have had. There are reproduction gears availible now.

He Is The One In Canada That Makes The Merc 44xs Eng Now Days.and Is A Great Guy To Do Busness With..(140 Dollars In Labor)
