  • gear ratios

    hi all,

i've been ac***ulating parts for the looper projects and i've come up with some various d quickie gear ratios and was wondering about them. i know the 1:1 d ratio was a 14:14 gear set. the one unders were i think 14:15. now i have several sets of 13:16 gears for the d quickie. where were the 13:16 gears used? what size prop was used. i have several sets of these and i'm restoring a quincy 44 looper and 2 c loopers and john shuberts b looper. were these gears used on any of them? also could they have been used on any of the quincy z engines? i'm restoring several of them too.

    13:16 "D" gears

Years ago Brad Snow got several "D" units from Doc Collins. They had a weird gear ratio and 13:16 sounds right. Doc ran them under his "B" loopers, as he could not keep 16:21 gears live onder a "B". Thinking he had them made out on the West coast.

Alan Ishi would be the one to ask.
