  • Merc AXS timing

This one is mainly for George S, but, feel free to chime in.

Does anyone have a photo of their timing rid as it is supposed to be connected to the lock in the Brown MFG Kit? There is a photo, however it shows a non threaded link all the way though the lock, and the rod I have was the threaded one Merc used as OEM. The lock barely hits the end of the threads when I tighten down the screw.

Also, can you tell me what the timing should be set at and what RPM it is set at for when I fire this bad boy up??

Thank you thank you, thank you!

Bill I tie wraped the trigger where its suposed to be and you shouldnt be able to move it unless you cut the tie wrap. The rod just about catches the alen bolt on the Alan Brown lock but even on the first ones it is the same way. I never use a timing light on them as I know where the trigger is set at, as high as I time them I really dont want to know where its at The threads on the rod are 5MM if you need to extend it.
Destiny is a matter of chance,it is a matter of choice; it is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved.

      Thanks George!

I left the tie wrap rigth where you set, like you said...The main concern was that there is such a short amount of rod to tighten the allen screw to, and the photo Alan gives clearly shows a non threaded rod that extended all the way to the opening of the lock. I thought that was 5mm, but there is not really a place to extend the rod because it pokes inside the lock, and the ball jointed end that clips to the mag plate appears cast in...Anyhow, I think there is enough meat there to clamp, i just would like more if possible.

Next week we put the gear case to the adapter plate and head to Mission Bay to make some music over the weekend....Stay tuned!
