Trying to hook deadmans throttle to 1977 15 hp Evinrude like I see being used
with J/A class. Are parts available to buy? Ideas? Thanks

Brown Tool MFG. He can set you up. Not sure of the cost, but ran somewhere around either side of the $100 line.

the one thing about the race set up. It bypasses the timing advancement. You have to lock the timing in a static position. for racing its does not seem to matter. if you will be using it on a lake and want F/R and good low speed and idle. It is not quite as nice

Thats true but as long as it runs right it will be OK. As a shift lower it might not go in gear at low enough idle, you could disable the neutral start devise & start in gear... save the dog.

IMHO I prefer adding a spring to that pulls on the timing plate (lakester the deadman throttle's spring is not strong enough to move the whole timing plate assembly) then connect the deadmans cable to the location that the tiller handle throttle uses. that lets the engine idle well. and you do not have to disable the safety switch. ( those that know me, KNOW i never do ANYTHING thats not safe)

              Thinking here

If you removed the heavy white grease from the mag plate bushing, and used light machine oil, the mag plate would loosen up enough for the throttle to move it, at least, in theory...I just removed some of the grease on a 1987 15 Rude and used oil and it amazed me how much easier the throttle works.

Ive found the deadmans not to have enough throw to turn the mag plate as well as not enough return spring so to separate it from the throttle.. somehow is going to be what needs to be done. What Ive done with my OMC rat motors is latch & spring the time so starting is easy & it runs full advance at the tap of a lever.
