OK, I just read all 60? post, this is what I remember.

Dean Wilson said he can recruit drivers to tunnel classes...hmmmm

David Weaver said the Europeans can run on the Danube and the Po(been there), add the Mosel(been there) and several more. Hmmm, the US has the Ohio, Tennessee and the Illinois plus many more.

David also said his Mostes was barely legal under the 60% rule, didn't I say that on page 1 or 2 of the original thread? In addition, has anyone looked under the newest capsule hydros? Maybe seen Jon Wrights 160 MPH drag boat?

Marc said only a handfull of capsule boats have been built. True, most all the boats on the water today were built since 1993 and came from Knoxville. How many is that?.....8? At the same time, I'm guessing about 50 capsule tunnels have been built in Knoxville, most of them are still on the water too....and winning.

Runabout guys, just so you are not left out. At one time there was a capsule runabout in Iowa.

David W, Marc J, Kay H, Nic, Chris H, Kristi H and others have said, "just do it"

Some are concerned with cost, great point! Just because something is allowed, doesn't mean you have to go get one. There are no factory teams in PRO, I'm certain Pugh Boat Works is not planning a entry. We do assist in the European F500 though.

Pat was concerned about cockpit to cockpit visibility...what? Can 300 OPC drivers be racing blind? They have a name for those types..Squirrels. They usually hang out in the back of the pack and crash into the lapping leaders.

It sounded like the 60% rule came about when some West Coaster Antique racers realized that there 1100cc loopers were getting spanked by 700cc gas burner. Sounds a little like the results from this years 125/175/250 WC.

Someone mentioned sound. Back in the day, starting about 1989 or so, Gary and I ran only quiet pipes supplied from Konig and Yamato.

Thats about all I recall from the discussion. Flame suit on!

What, no factory teams in Pro? Ok, someone lied to me. Better ask the other Marc on that one.

Dont worry about posting it Eric, I will say it again. I think it would be unsafe to run capsule hydros with tunnel boats. Is this the one you were referring to Mark?

Yes, but Doug, no one said anything about tunnel boats taking over....... Maybe Tunnel Vision! This would open up the designs to anything hydro or tunnel or a hybrid of the both, but especially advanced hydroplanes. I am not building a tunnel, so you tell me who is Doug, Rex??

Marc, I dont think that I ever said you were building Tunnel boats. If you go back to the posts on the first page they are referring to tunnel boats and capsule boats running together. I did not start the posts about tunnel boats, just giving my opinion about them running together.

Good, because this rule update is about expanding the class and hydroplanes to unlimited progress and should not be mistaken as everyone having to race with or replace their boats with tunnels boats. I think that when all the new design hydroplanes are up and running in the next few years to come, the tunnel boats will become a distant thought for the capsule classes, but we have to get there with this rule change first.

I don't mean to alienate anyone, at this point I'm just a race boat fan. I haven't paid APBA dues in about 5 years. The Halls are good customers of my brothers, so if anything, I have a reason to keep it the way it is.

I just thought if the rule were changed, it would allow some more boat developement, maybe some cross-over SST45's at races and give a reason for someone to do all the work to host and promote a 0-500 or 0-700 WC in the United States again.
