  • OMC A motor throttle Linkage

Last weekend, I got a deal on 2 3HP OMC motors, one 1966 with built in tank, one 1968, that uses a remote tank. Price, $25 for both....

I'm keeping the '66 for the collection, and it will make a great chaser motr for the Zodiak in practice..

On the '68 3HP, pictured before you on the right, is the stock throttle linkage that rubs against the cam when you open the hand throttle. On the left, is the OMC A class racing throttle linkage....

See any differences other than the hole? The A linkage, around $15.00 if you can find it. The 3HP linkage, $4.35, plus time to drill....

Ah.... That 3hp Part No. 312832 is $14.50 at a dealer and NLA

It's available from several dealerships across the nation with old inventory, but no longer available from the Evinrude/Johnson factory. You can get them from SeaWay Marine in Seattle but it's certainly not under $5.00 like you say.

I was looking at an old price sheet...Sorry, me goofed!

However, it's a great alternative to the real deal if you can't find one, and I do think it's still a little less money, but more work, right?

Actually, you've stumbled on to something... Here's where to get the part

1968 thru 1976 Johnson/Evinrude 3hp, 4hp, & 6hp outboards have that part on them... Used is as good as new if you need one.

Part No. 312832 (this number "should" be embossed on the part someplace and you can drill the second hole to work on your racing motor.)

        Good observation Skoontz

          25xs:

I have often wondered what parts that are labeled "racing" were simply morphed out of standard production parts and sold at increased prices.

Many manufacturers do this type of thing, best example was Scag power equipment. We ran several of the 3 wheel type 61" lawn mowers. They used a chrome plated gas shock by Monroe, that when worn out, replacement costs were like $325. So, one afternoon, I'm over at a buddy of mines house who races sprint cars, and low and behold, there is that shock on both his front axles...So, I asked him what he paid, and wouldn't ya know.... $93.50 each. He gives me the part number, I order, and got 3 for the price I used to pay for one.

Anyhow, thanks for the part number. I will place it in my goodie box of A connections.
