Porting.

That's a question you'll likely get a dozen different anwers to.
I suggest getting a hold of Harry Brinkman's book. There's a wealth of information in there. Harry was the man.

Depends

On your objective. Runabout or Hydro. Long Course or short course. There is no definitive answer, only speculation. What works good for one might not work very well for another as they are a different weight, have different props or boats. Difference may not be dramtic, but perhaps noticable.

There are some general guidelines you can follow. Torque = Low and Fast = High with no torque. Find the balance.

If a little bit is good, then more has to be better , and "too much" must be just right.

You could send your block to Ruck and have him port it Brinkman's specs. He may even have his own ideas of what works best (I don't know). Or you could just send it to one of the people out there that build motors. Dudley Malone and Phil McDaniels are a couple of guys that quickly come to mind that port motors.
