    ooops!

I thought it was Bill Rosado.

    No cigar for me!

Yes, Peter, Bill Walker's son. I remember you well from when we lived up your way. I wanted one of your CrowleyCraft Runabouts badly. They were way ahead of their time.

      Thanks Peter

      Peter,

Thanks again. The 'secret' is testing, testing, testing and then test some more.

I was fortunate to have "Poppa" R. Allen Smith build propellers.

Ask "How High" to Wart. I think he has all the Yamato records.

He knows how to run them high without sticking. By the end of the kilo run, I'm quite sure the motor is running without cooling!!!!!!!!

        Good Luck.

Thanks Dean. I'll talk it over with Wart. We talked a little in passing, but nothing very technical. Sounds like it could be fun

          I did that once too.

But more seriously- the kilos are most like the "boat version" of the Bonneville Salt Flats speed records. Special boats, propellers, set-ups and sometimes special lowerunit designs are required to gain speed. It has always been like this since the beginning of outboard racing. Often times- a boat that goes that fast can't turn... and if you can turn it, it can't go fast enough!

I set a record once. It was with a special boat and all... and it couldn't turn!

Matt, I remember you from long ago......!

Not a racer, but I would love to be one day... Quick Question.... I have a small boat 12' Orlando Clipper Bowrider........Wondering if there is any way to put one of these motors on the back of it.........would it be worth it..? I would love to go about 45-55 in it....... So, 1, could I and would it be worth it to buy one of these "hydro racer" motors and put it on the back of my boat or can I modify my 1987 Mercury 402 "40" horse to be like one of them? I have heard that you can take the foot off of my motor and make it a whole lot shorter(by passing the gears?) so that I can get the full power of the motor..........someone told me that where I would lose power is through my "gears in the foot?"

I do not mean to offend anyone or waste anyone's time by writing this.... I am really interested in getting into HydroRacing......but for right now...all I have is the Clipper to play with........

                Thanks for your time,

                  tmartin54......

If your just trying to put together a "Lake Racer" or, in other words, a high performance boat that does not fit into a recognised class by a national sanctioning organisation like APBA, AOF, NBRA, etc..... then theres really no rules. Its just whatever works. Remember speed costs money, and every mile an hour faster costs twice as much as the last one cost ya.

If your interested in racing within a recognised class structure, there is inexpensive equipment available across the country. Some classes are only popular in certain areas however.

If you are interested in organised outboard racing a little more info about yourself might be helpful for people here to help you out. So where are you located? Some clases are very dependent on your weight, so how much do you weigh? Answers to those two basic questions will help people here to point you in the right direction.

You will not find a more helpful group of people in any motorsport.

                  Good Luck,

                  Brad Walker

I was always told this was the worlds shortest river.

                          http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chute_River

"Brandy Pond is a small lake in Naples, Maine, United States, that is connected to Long Lake by the Chute River which at one time was regarded by The Guinness Book of World Records as the world’s shortest river."
