  • the skeg on my Y102

Ok, from the looks of it the trailing edge of the bottom of the skeg is slightly bent (in the photos it is bent to the right). Also it doesn't have the cleanest edge on it. The last owner had it standing on its skeg on a cement floor. My first question would be how would I straighten the skeg? lightly tap it with a hammer while holding the other side with a block of wood or something? My second question would be is it ok to use a file to sharpen up the edge? maybe some fine sandpaper then buff it? I want to make sure cleaning up the edge wouldn't be braking any rules because its being "modified" to some extent but then again I know it has been shaped.

Be easy on me and any advice would be great, thanks.

    Silas.

send to it Tom Cronk and let him take care of the shaping/filing etc. That way you know it will be "legal"!!! There are some things you do not want to risk and have to spend money on..........

Tom, I have it draining right now and will send it out UPS today/tomorrow. We had the lower unit off once before but didn't look at it, who would have the seal thats on the bottom of the tower and seals arround the driveshaft that comes out of the lower unit? I will give Tom Johnston a call and see if he has it, but any leads would be nice.
