I thought it might be interesting to provide some pictures of the machining process of our new Gearcase available for D-mod and Pro classes.
Material: 3 x 5 x 11 6061 Billet Aluminum.
1st Op. Machine profile, top Pinion bearing and seal and snap ring pocket.
also put mounting hole pattern (Metric Konig Pattern)
2nd Op. Machine Hatchet Profile, lower pinion shaft Bearing pockets.
3 dimensionally machine all bearing surfaces for prop Shaft.
3rd Op. Machine the left and Right sides for clearance to install mounting
bolts
The only thing left is to add the Oil over flow hole and the water
inlet. Next we will start on the skeg half.
