That boat has been in my driveway and I can testify it is immmaculate. I originally fitted a 1961 Merc 800-six powerhead on that tower and gearcase. I converted it to Thunderbolt ignition and had it set up with push button electic start on the lower cowl pan. Full cowls, restored original white paint with chrome wrap and chrome "MERCURY" letters. Maybe a little slower than the 1000 but I liked the very clean look with the full cowls. And it was a lot quieter for general lake use. I think the 1961 Merc 800 is one of the best looking engines ever made.
