  • 1950's Raveau C-D Utility for sale on e-bay

    Hi fellow racers,
I have decided to part with my fully restored (like new) Raveau. I need room to work on other projects and I would go nuts if it ever got scratched. Choice of racing or service engines (all as new) or combination of multiple set ups. It can be viewed on e-bay #132804207063. A great gift for the lake house and 50's vintage truck - oh yeah and maybe even dad!
    Thanks for your interest,
    Dave

Hi Jack G. - Today I am going to my 50th HS reunion. If I remember correctly that was Tony Lebare (SP) that had the pit bull hold on the sneakers of the original outhouse half moon racing trailer pulling away from the pits?~ 49 yrs ago!!!! Hope to see you at a race soon.

Thanks Dean - It even smells good with 10 coats of spar varnish festering away

              Dean,
Spar varnish takes ALOT of coats to build to a mirror finish unlike urethanes. The oils continue to evaporate over time and generally need about 1 coat per year after initial build due to UV degradation and the soft oil finish therefor the odor long after application.
Raveau boat were original built in Oceanside Long Island, NY and then in Lindenhurst LI,NY. The operation was later moved to Florida where Carl Kiekhaeffer had Marcell Raveau and his helper Bob Walwork build them for testing the Mercury outboards. Check out the Raveau website that Bob W. has up and is still building modern versions of them. Pretty cool photos of the boats and old racers.
