  • NOS-NEW Mercury Mark 55H Quicksilver Gearcase Rises Past $1625.00 and Days are left!

New Merc 55H complete Quicksilver D Gearcase now $1625.00 and going up still!

With 8 days left on Ebay and Merc Quicksilver NOS new gearcase has already been bid up to $1,624.00 and its probably still going to rise yet! This is bizarre where the collectors market is going. Similarly with days left there is a bid of $400.00 for a new genuine pair of Mercury NOS Quicksilver D class gears too and with the number of days left they may go up too and I wonder where that is going to end up with both still having 5 ot 8 days of bidding left to go yet! The collectors market is red hot right now it seems as I can not see racers doing this?

Follow this Ebay link and just stare at what is going on for yourselves!

    Hey john,

Yes I know this has me rethinking my lower unit prices and gear prices in a big way... I was bidding to see how high the reserve was..

        Great

Thats great, now evreybody with a "D" gearfoot is going to think they have gold and the price to own one will go through the roof all because one guy was stupid with his money. How about this....the gearfoot is for use with a 55h, look at the lengh of the drive shaft, imagine the look on that guys face when he finds out how usefull a 55h is on race day. lol

          What !!!

          Sonny,

I bid on that lower unit for my 55H that I am restoring.. I am not bidding any higher and I am not raising the the prices on my gears or a complete 44XS lower unit.

By the way the guy you sold your stock 58 with pipes to called me today and boy he is none to happy with what he was sold... I think from our conversation he has about given up on getting into our sport and is going back to bikes.. I think you know what I am talking about. I think you need to get hold of him and fix this up asap.

            Huh

hogwash... he got a great deal. The parts allone were worth more than he paid. If he wasn't happy why wouldn't he have called me? I have 10 more motors. You pitted right next to me at crystal lake. Did I strike you as the kind of guy who was going to take advantage of someone much less a new racer? Hell, I offered to lend him a boat to race it on...for nothing. Holy cow, I gave him a kevlar safety jacket after the sale... just to be a good guy! As far as the gearfoot goes, you dont have to explain yourself to me. I could care less if you pay 2 million for it. All I was saying is how impractical it is to pay that kind of money for racing stuff you cant race, when a new gearfoot you can race is less money and the driveshaft is already cut down.

              2000$$ for a stock 58 a good deal

              Sonny,

He called me looking for some brackets and then he told me the story.. I told him that I have a mod going together right now with a all the bells and whistles on a roskowski tower with new pistons and bayer pipes, ported, crank cut on a rebuilt 55H lower unit for 2500-3000 complete and competitive out of the box..

I just bought two hustler towers for 250.00 and I throw konig gearboots in the garbage.. I just think that it was a lot of money for a stock 58 powerhead still sealed up and a hustler tower with a konig gearcase..

I was not judging your character in my comments. I just think that at 2000 dollar motor that really needs another 1000-1500 or more to be competitive is a lot of money.

Too Many Subterfuges Here! Come On Guys!

The only reason why I posted about the eBay item was for people to have the latest as to what is going on in that cyberworld where things can and do go fairly but others can and will go bananas! Who would pay that kind on money for a single new gearfoot if it wasn't a collector for a collector motor? No one I know would buy and use a new one unless he had lottery winnings at his disposal and could buy another and another and another!

This other sidwshow you fellas have is really something between buyer and seller than shouldn't be addressed by a third party who had nothing to do with the sale. It makes for only generating bad blood when that kinda stuff is not settled between the revent 2 parties to it and should not be on here with a third party commentary.

Next time someone talks about tossing Konig gearcases out, how about posting them and telling us as we are on the hunt for spare parts for them to keep these oldies going for a little while longer. Please do.

                  ?

I paid a lot more than that, That tower was 800.00 by the time the macine shop cut it and put a swivel bracket and clamps on it. I originally wanted a 44xs set up but it was way over 1000.00. The gearfoot is still avalable Konny gets 1200 for one. Thats 2000 right there. The KA7A carbs are 300 a set, a full set of megaphones is almost 400, mine wern't new so lets say 300. After Crystal lake and my little ignition misshaps I paid to have the mag made brand new, and the carbs and fuelpump made new which was another few hundred. I lost money to help him out...and then gave him safety equiptment to make sure he wouldnt get hurt..that I also paid for. Steve litzel has 1 to 1 gears for that gearfoot. it has a new set of 12/16 in it. He's not in bad shape. He built the boat out of hardwood flooring and it weighs arround 300lbs. my stuff is the nicest stuff he's got. So if you got 2 towers for 250 thats 125 each and your trashcan is full of konig gearfeet...I'll put a check in the mail right now for 150.00 send'm on down. I like ya Dave, but it's just not that cheap.

                    I stand corrected!!

                    Hey Sonny,

Sorry I did not realize it had a KONNY boot on it. I was assuming it was a older Konig Unit.. I would NOT throw a Konny in the garbage can.. I sold a few old a/b konig feet a couple years back for 25 or 50 bucks I cannot remember now..

I do realize the machining cost involved as I am doing that right now for the two hustlers I got and I have to buld them into mods for a new racer from the area and I go through it everyday with the machine shop for all the other 44XS stuff I am doing...

If he would have told me the whole story my advice to him would have been different.. Like GET A NEW BOAT.

Konny are now 600 Euro for the small ones 12/15 but you need to change all the bearings when they land anyways for our applications.

anyhow, Just caught up in the heat of the moment Sorry for the confusion. Really none of my business but he called me...

                    Sorry,

Why would you have to change the bearings upon arrival? same bearings in 14:15 big case except for pinion bearing. I wish folks would know more before post BS about units. It amazes me that no one calls for info. also 600 Euros sounds cheap if you don't have to pay shipping and import taxes. Alot of non facts here.

                        price from website!

                        Hey Steve,

Did you not install bearings in a case a couple winters back for someone to run under a three holer. I believe two or three times. That is where that statement came from.

Here is the link to the web-site and it still says the price is 600 euro.

                        Only stating what I read.
