  • Gear lash adjustment for OMC a motor?

I split the the gear case on my A motor for inspection. Looks OK , just the impeller splines and shaft splines are a little worn I was told the guys up north glue the impellers on. What kind of glue? I should have marked the adjuster but I didn't see how it work until now. How do I adjust the gear lash?
    Thanks for any help

I use a steel filled epoxy on mine. The adjuster is not for gear lash, the gears are shimmed under the pinion thrust washer and up front on the prop shaft between the bearing retainer (bronze) and the bearing thrust socket (steel) that fits in the reatainer assembly. Yours should be shimmed if was off a running engine. Just set the adjuster sleeve so you can feel a slight drag on .005" feeler cage stuck between the rear thrust bearing and a prop shaft roller bearing.

Thanks Cooper! There is not anybody I'd trust more. I ordered some Devcon 62345.
