When I first looked at the carbs I also thought they were KA2A carbs with the internal choke plate but I have changed my mind. I think they are really KA7A that has been modified with the internal choke. Look a the carbs in the picture and the hole for the external choke is drilled and tapped. The KA2A doesn't have this hole so why would the hole be there if it wasn't KA7A's.

Originally I didn't have both throttle stops, I do now so now longer a problem but was in the beginning. Also didn't have the original linkages to hook up the cable but a guy on johnsoldmercurysite.com made some and I have one for both of my H's now.

It's back on eBay, has a new photo of a top down view to see the serial number. You can see it is not a true 55H flywheel.

          ebay 55-H

I would want to see the crankcase cover without the carbs. mounted. My 55-H that I raced is a hybrid, but my Dad and I worked on getting the tooling made to machine any opening to the 55-H specs. I have KA7A's on my motor, but converted to the later style choke assemblies like TRIDENT wrote about earlier in this thread.
Wow if I thought I could get $2,500 for mine, I'd sell it in a minute and reinvest the money in a D mod motor or buy a heaping load of raffle tickets for that D Tohatsu being raffled off through APBA.

Mine is pretty much authentic and if $2500 were to come along, it would be gone. I use it on my C marathon boat once in awhile but I have been spit out a few times. I have a new marathon boat that might be better, the old one would hook badly without warning. I'll try again this summer.
