Rex, could you post some pics of this LU. Also, what is the bullet with? Do you know if they will interchange with any other Lower units(bolt pattern/shaft position)?? Thanks, Bryan Tharp

The width of the unit is 2.115 and it has the same bolt pattern as the Konig lower unit.

            question....

looks like the shear pin hole is 3/16"? If so, that won't hold up for long for a 750 or 850 motor with the big props........

Well Mr know it all, who then currently makes the best lower unit suited to handle the torque and vibration of the F.E. motor?

The pin hole is 5mm and with our shear pins, holds up to a 440cc 2 cylinder opposed firing motor that makes over 130 horsepower. I know that the 3 cylinder E motors have a lot of torque, but not nearly as much as our 440 that will turn 12,600 RPM. We also run our 700cc motors that make 250 horsepower, with no problems.

Brand "B" gears did not last a entire season under the 45 w/pipe that works.

                        Lower unit

The rear of the lower unit is 1.500 in diameter with the propshaft bearing O.D. of .905. The propshaft is 15mm and you could open the pin hole up to
                        ,250.

                          850 gearcase

I feel the bset gearcase for the 850 is the 45ss gearcase. I have been told that it is slower than others and that may be true. We have never been towed in for gearcase failing. We have won two champingships and set a record with a 45ss case

45 case is good but a bit big for my likes,,, the bass deff the best compromise and seems tuff enough for the 3 holer and dose seam to last,,,, remember we still have minium measurements on the 850 gearbox to meet,,, no offense to guys that think the alkie foots/gears will last under a 3 holer,,, just put a 8-9" dia prop on it and test it,, bet something will brake... yes thats how big a dia props i run on my bass,,,
