SOLD!!! Thank you Hydroracer.net
Now is your chance to own a piece of boat racing history! Prior to becoming the World Champion in H1 Unlimited Hydroplane racing, Jimmy Shane had a successful APBA racing career in smaller boats. Following in the footsteps of his father, Stu Shane, Jimmy started out racing Stock Outboards before switching to inboards and becoming a champion in the 1.5 Liter inboard T Class.
I met the Shane family around 2002 when I purchased this boat from them in an eBay auction. Having raced stock outboards as a teenager, I wanted to pass on the excitement of the sport to my oldest son Austin. So I took this boat home and placed it in the garage in a strategic location where Austin would walk by it every day. I waited for the day when he would ask about going for a ride. A year or two went by. That day never came. So in 2004 I bought a C Stock Runabout and drove to Lock Haven with Austin for my first boat race in 28 years.
Jimmy's old A Stock runabout has been inside my garage or inside a storage trailer since I've owned it. We've never raced it, although it is a legal A Stock runabout. It could also be used in J Runabout. I've never weighed it nor measured it so I can't give exact specifications.
It includes everything that came on the boat originally:
Keller side mount dead man's throttle
Throttle cable
Built in wooden gas tank
Steering wheel (not Keller, not Brown)
Keller extended steering hub
Side fin
Nice transom hardware including Keller handles
Original numbers and original driver's name graphics
Overall condition of the boat is good. If I were smarter I would have wiped down the hull before I took the pictures. The dust makes the finish looks worse than it is. The finish is not perfect, but it's in good shape for its age. It's not high gloss, but neither is it flaking or chipping like the dust makes it appear.
I don't know who built the boat or what year it was built. The Shane's said the builder was a racer from Pennsylvania. The boat may date back to the late 1980's. It certainly has a unique design. READ POSTS BELOW FOR MORE INFO.
I'll help with delivery or arrange for shipment if requested.
