this is one of my dads d motors that he built he has too many( wish i had that problem) its either a 40 cu or the 44 im not sure. has an american hot rod lower unit asking 1275 for more info info call 231 652 2038 ask for ron

if it says thunder bolt between the pumps its a 40 if it says super thunder bolt it is 44 cubic inch

if it has eight screws on the intake ports it is most likely a d the 44 s only had two intake covers

Hhmmm..... If it doesn't say anything on the side of the block, that makes things difficult.

Most 40s had four intake port covers (8 bolts) but some 40s had only two intake port covers (6 bolts).

Look at at the spark plug location. If the spark plugs are offset, it's a 44 (I've never seen a 40 with offset spark plugs....). If the plugs are centered up it could be a 40 or 44.

What carbs are on the motor?
