    He said its a 6 cylinder 135 horse with 3 mega-phones.
i believe it to be similar to the one found in this link: http://www.quincylooperracing.us/subpage124.html
once again, any info or history would be appreciated.

1971 "BP race motors" were actually only made for the factory race team and not sold to private racers until they were no longer competitive.

Its a lot more likely to find a 1968 thru 1970 "BP"

The serial number stamped on the clamp and matching number on the block would confirm which it is ... pictures would help a lot, especially detail shots of the starter brackets and fuel pumps.

Of course it has Mercury parts in it.

Value depends on condition and which Mercury parts are in it.

You are starting to sound like a forum troll.

Pictures and information I suggested already will help determine the value.

After sitting for 20+ years. The gearfoot was siezed. We soaked it loose with penitrating oil, got some movement out of it, but would like any Tech' information so we can dismantle and replace bearings.
Our gearfoot is exactly the same one in this link: http://johnsoldmercurysite.com/phpBB...opic.php?t=658

Unfortunately there isn't any technical info on that foot. It was produced for a fairly short time period ... also, none of the racing lower unit rebuilders will touch one of them ... not even the guys who built them at the factory. On the BP unit, you are on your own. The info referenced off the John Kwast thread and the "Frankenstein" thread are the limit of available info - there just isn't any more.

Side note: the BP unit was discontinued in 1969 when the rules were changed ... its not a '71, its slightly older - but it is a highly prized piece of machinery.
