Thanks for all of the help

I just wanted to say thank you for all of the responses. I remember all of the people and characters when my Dad raced and that's a big reason I want to get started. Thanks again to all.

      just about anytime . . .

I am off today, but tied up in training Sat Am til noon, and then wide open. Phone number is my cell which is always in my pocket since I'm high on the airport recall list.

New River is where our crash crew goes for live burn drills. What fun!

      Thanks,

      Mike

MV-22 - Are you stationed at Cherry Point? I work ARFF at Coastal Carolina and love watching the Ospreys when they cruise in from Cherry Point to practice touch & gos.

Quite a few racers on the coast. In my burg, New Bern, there is John Runne, builder of fast hydros and runabouts, and a racer experienced in C class and B class Hot Rods.

          Mike,
If you want to race in the NC area then your best bet would be a CSR. We typically do not have any BSR that show up. Good luck and let us know what we can do to help!

I guess that I will just have to go the CSR route then. Now I just have to figure out the best hull design that will work for me. Thanks for the help.

                Doug-

I have spent a little quality time at Camp Leatherneck and it's not home, but it's not too bad. I hope that I can get a boat and get to as many places with it as time will allow. Thanks for the help.

                Regards,

                Mike

First, from one old military man to another, thanks for your service. Are you related to the Parrot's from the Indian River area? I would like to see you race at Top O'. We are always looking for new drivers. We have a bunch of guys in our club that will help you get started. If you need, we will help you find equipment to buy or even loan you some stuff to get you on the water. Good luck, and hope to see you soon. PS, take Josh up on his offer, he has fast stuff.

Bob and Mona Parrott are my Grandparents, Wayne is my Dad. My Aunt Debbie is still up that way too. I used to spend my summers in Indian River. Each summer I got to watch Dad run his boat in the race.

I was hoping to find a boat to run on both the short and marathon courses, but I don't know if that's possible. I am not sure of the best boat for me.

Thanks for the offers to help. I have a training exercise in late August, but I am trying to arrange my schedule to either have a boat of my own or show up on Josh's doorstep to run this years race.

                            Raymond-

I grew up in Howell, MI. The Marine Corps has kept me away from there for the past 12 years, but I try to get home around Christmas to see the family. A few deployments have gotten in the way of that though. I flew a MV-22 up to the Willow Run Air Show last summer, but my 18 month old was not a great traveller and that cancelled our Christmas trip. Then again, maybe it was my wife that didn't travel well.

Thanks for the information and I will be sure to check it out.

                              Wayne's your daD?

Remember your dad running the 36 and winning when he got a chance to come race, always a busy guy with the poured walls business. Your aunt, dad and I after the party in Alanson fire hall had a run in with a deer. He was driving me back to my van for resting purposes. He was so excited to get a deer that time of the year. I think that was 82' I had a new 35 runabout and the divisionals were on Crooked Lake. Is he still around?

He still gets excited about his deer. Knowing my Dad he didn't work to hard to avoid that deer.
He still lives in Howell. He retired a few years ago, so he spends a good chunk of the fall in the U.P. bear hunting. I can pass his phone number to you if you would like it.
I have been picking his boat racing brain to get his thoughts on a good starting point for me too.
