thats a wild looking engine i wonder who built it ?

David i ran a 650 engine the Leblanc boys had at the 92 AOF nationals in 1992 with lil or no test time and a borrowed prop in 2nd place
the unit broke but i was in the money had it not !
just some food for thought never say never

in 89 i had a 12'6" c pro boat we ran my 55-H mod on they said it would never win a nationals in 1989 i never lost a heat and 1 of which was a nationals the next summer 1990 there 6 new pugh 12'6" hydros on the water lolol

          never say never

BTW david i am still wanting to buy that prop we talked about last year your 3 blade 13 u offered is it still avaliable email or PM me please

          regards
          Randy

The last 650 Merc that I watched run was Chuck Peterson at the APBA National Championships in 1994 with Jerry Weandt's rig. He easily won back to back heats with a lot of speed to spare.

I think that was a totally different motor than the one in the auction. Wasn't Jerry's motor a 3 carb motor? The one in the auction appears to be a 2 carb motor.

Yes, David it was a 3 carb

The merc 2 carb engine is a compromise, we had them as service engines and they work ok for that, BUT against the OMC and especially the 3 carb, well, you are gonna run at the back of the pack, BUT, like every every class we have, it all depends on desires and budget. Our experiments with 3 pipes on the 2 carb seemed to lack back pressure and the engines were shelved in Favor of the OMC.

                    Here's a pic of Jerry"s rig at WAKEFIELD 94
