Have a Krier runabout for sale. It was origionally a 350-500 pro boat but will work real well with a 850 Mod engine or a 44 Merc. It may be a little big for the Merc but will be a very safe ride. The boat is fully rigged and ready to race. Would like to get $1000.00 for it ....Bob N-96

Dunno if your heart is set on D-Mod or not, but just so you know there are plenty of CSR/CSH racers out there weighing in at 220+. Also, CSR/CSH is raced coast to coast with good fields. The 4 cyl Merc classes are somewhat regionalized.

There is no more reliable or inexpensive ride than a Yamato 102/302 in Stock, Mod, or PRO racing.

I don't know Bill. raced them all and there is no greater ride than a 500 Pro Runabout. The D Mods are also a super ride. That C stock stuff takes its toll on boats, too many wrecks and too many restrictions. Do not need a minium weight in these classes. Guess I am opening myself up for a lot of flack on this one...Just my oponion.....Bob N-96

I am leaning towards Mod for the same reasons. Just our opinions

All I said is that Yamatos are reliable and inexpensive and commonly raced coast to coast. Personally, I think it is kind of a snotty and difficult ride. But guys in the 220+ lb range like me, we dont have a lot of choices. Maybe I should lose 40-50 lbs and buy a 20ci Sidewinder

For new racers, it is all about getting lots of experience. If you pick a class that is not run very often it is tough to develop the skills.

I was really responding to Roostertails weight question when he asked if D-Mod could handle his 220 lbs. I completely agree that any PRO class is smoother, easier to handle, and generally just plain a nicer ride than any Stock or Mod class.

                      Dmr

Go for the D Mod runabout, the new boats we are running now are a Cadillac ride. Brad you have been out of it too long if you think CSR can even compare to DMR. The C's are a real crap ride compared to the D's.

Completely agree Bob, D-Mod is great. I loved racing Al Schopinichs.

I just prefer the C Mod and I think most would agree CSR is kinda crappy

                          Hi Dennis,
Be sure to get involved with some of the local Clubs to help you get started. Marine Racing Club (along with BSOA) host many Stock and Mod races in Illinois and Wisconsin. The majority of our recent Club meetings have been in the Aurora/Naperville area...within 1.5-2 hours of Kankakee.

In addition to meeting some of the racers at a Club meeting, many members will be willing to let you try a boat in order to help you chose what class is best for you. They can also provide some help/advice when you are looking to make a purchase.

Don't hesitate to PM or email for more information.

I live in Champaign and have both mod Hydro and runabouts you can take a look at my stuff. Give me The 750mod class is as affordable as a class gets in mod. Lots of parts available and the there are few secrets left to making them run.
