  • Post Season Equipment Sale!

I still have these items for sale:

Custom-built Yamato 250cc Powerhead & Tower: Pistons are moly-coated to specs by Rex Hall. Power head includes special mods by Zak, Schmidt, & Tietze. Asking $1,700 for the powerhead & tower (less gear box). The 250cc motor is APBA-legal for 250cc racing. The power head is turned 90 degrees on the tower. I installed new Kawasaki reeds (OEM for Yamato.) Powerhead comes with a custom Schmidt steering bar/pipe rack, nickel ceramic-coated Schmidt custom pipes, stock tower assembly, and a spare set of header pipes for use with stock Yamato expansion chambers. Asking price includes a fully-illustrated, Yamato 250cc parts and assembly manual, spare spark plugs, two good spare pistons with new moly-coating by Rex, and the all of the power head specialty tools necessary to time and maintain the motor (this extra maintenance stuff is worth at least $300).

CSH/CMH Spare Racing Parts: I still have a few Y102 motor parts: a used exhaust manifold cover with new gasket for $50, fuel tank shutoff valve for $15, etc., and a few CSH/CMH boat equipment parts: a Keller original throttle, Keller wheel hub, & a new pipe hand-puller (aluminum casting) lever for sale.

Please PM email me to receive more detailed pictures and descriptions of the 250cc powerhead and tower.

Buyer pays for all shipping costs above asking prices shown above. No personal checks or PAYPAL payments please. Digital photos sent to all prospective buyers on request.

    Karelsen Hydro???

Do you know if this hydro would be a good one for Service "C" or Antique PR "C"?? I was told that some Karlsens were good for these classes...

    Thanks in advance.

I drove a C service on an old Pugh 125 boat, modified for laydown, for Henry Shakeshaft once several years ago. It was the first time in an antique, so I didn't know any better. It stood straight up on the transom leaving the pits before getting on plane, cool. The boat was so small, the giant prop caused oscillations in the sponson tips for about a lap and a half, cool. After that, it ripped the transom off, and the power head landed on my lower legs, not so cool. I still remember that boat ride vividly.

          Ian,

One of the top 10 moments in my boat racing memory. Your choices were to stay with what was left of the failed experiment or to swim into shore with the cottonmouths.

I remember that ride, Ian. I seem to recall the pit betting on 3-lap survival began before turn one. Not sure who won the pool, but you were wise to stay on the scene as the cottonmouths seemed extra hungry that year
