Steve, I'm not having success using your "handle" link to contact you. I'd like to buy three full butterflys for KA5A's. Can you contact me.

    Butterflies

    Dave,

For some reason, I can't e-mail you either. Here is the info you need.

They are $15 each plus a buck for shipping three of them. You can send a check to this address. Please make sure the check is good. I'd rather not make guys get money orders, but I've recently had some trouble with checks.

I am still being patient and allowing them, just don't be the third strike that changes my policy on payment.

    thanks

Speaking of KA-5As, are they actually legal in MOD racing? I don't see any specific reference to them in the general Mod tech manual nor under the 1987 20H specs (in reference to running the 20H in A (250cc) Mod.

      Thanks in advance,

      Barry

I thought 20H in A Mod had to be 100% to Stock rules ... KA7A or Carter N only

The stock 20H in 250cc classes - 100% stock includes certain Mark 25 parts with allowed machining (such as the crankcase opening, for example), as well as other carbs besides the KA7A and Carter N. (page 18 of the 2008 Modified Outboard Technical Manual).

My question is specifically about the KA5A, which is not referenced at all anywhere in the tech manual. I have heard that some guys do run them. I am talking about 250 and 350 classes in general, not just the 20H in 250. Are they legal to use, but it was never put in print or what is the situation? Just wondering.

            20-H carbs

Any KA series carburetor can be used as long as the venturi stays at 1" and the throat diameter at 1-
1/8".This includes the KA3A, KA2A, KA1A, and KA7A, and any needle and seat from the KA7A is legal.
Any model N Carter carburetor is legal with the 15/16" venturi and a 1-5/16" throat.

The way that I read this rule is simply as it reads: Any KA carb so long as it matches the dimensions.

It goes on to say that in includes several, but doesn't say ONLY includes. I think that was just for reference. If your carb is a KA and meets the dimensions listed, how can it be illegal?

              Thanks for your reply, Steve.

I do understand what it says in the tech manual. But I still do not have an answer to my question as to the legality of a KA5A. Let me ask the same question in a different way. Assuming I don't currently have a KA5A to measure, can you tell me whether or not a factory stock KA5A has a 1" venturi and a throat diameter of 1 1/8 ?

              Thank you,
