Hey All,
We installed one of my throttle brackets on Mr Gary US Ponds (abby's) AXS motor in Florida. It took about 10 Minutes to install only for the lack of a long enough 10-32 threaded rod or it would have been less time.
It is a direct bolt on to the motor and you only have to drill one hole through the rubber grommet at the front for belden cable access. Hook up to the throttle now take less than 2 minutes. No cable binding as people thought all the AXS drivers inspected the install as well as Ernie Dawe.
Very smooth response and it works perfect.
I am considering another run of those bracket as a kit. Gary bought out the last of the one's I had in stock.
The kit for an AXS or J would include the following.
The throttle bracket
Swivel Ball for the cable attachment with a 10-32 lockdown screw not the 12-24 set screw in the previous models.
Actuator Arm/Spacer/belden cable hold down
Return Spring
1/2' spacer and required mounting bolts. The spacer goes between the bracket and the center transfer port screw.
10" of 10-32 SS threaded rod cut to required length, this install between the throttle bracket and the carb connection. I think the one we made up was like 7-8" long. you can adjust this with the use of the plastic ball ends.
The kits will sell for 129US. the ball links each are like 10$ from Merc. Which I did not include in the 25 t bracket kit. The spacers are 2.50$ each from my machine shop. For a 25 the kits are still 100$ but do not include the ball ends or threaded rod and spacer.
I have to make a run of 25 pieces so I am wondering who if anyone for J or A are interested in any of these.
the only other change is a you may need a longer throttle cable from the pistol grip to the motor to have it tuck down tight along the left coaming and then come across the motor, but we tried it even with a short cable and had zero binding in any position.
I am not sure if anyone took any pic of the install but if you did and could post them that would be great.
you can e-mail me a sales@scottcraftboats.com
