The bolt pattern is correct, but the driveshaft is probably for the later big (8) spline crankshafts. You could switch out the original small 11 spline crank and get an 8 spline crank from a 1961 Merc 700 Full Gear Shift crankshaft and it would fit.
It will be several (5 or 6) inches taller than a real 75H. You can come a lot closer with one of Bob Shapton's Quincy towers which are only about an inch taller than a real 75H
A real 75H uses the factory mid section and true 75H lower unit ... just like putting a D Quickie under a 40 or 44ci power head does not make a 55H
The last problem you would have is finding a usable prop. Almost all splined Super Speedmaster props are for 80+ mphLast edited by sam; 01-22-2008, 07:55 PM.

I guess the question comes down to whether it has an 8 spline drive shaft or an 11 spline drive shaft.
The 8 spline drive shaft fits 1960 and 1961 80hp motors and all full gear shift inline 6 Mercs, the 66 ci 4 cylinders and the 60 and 62 ci 4 cylinders. Basically everything over 50 hp ( I think the 3 cylinder motors use the 11 spline or some of them do).
The base bolt pattern fits all the inline 6 Mercs from 1957 to 1971. In 1972 the bolt pattern was changed. This means it fits Steve's 135, but won't fit a 140, 150 or a 115 or 90 made after 1972.Last edited by sam; 01-22-2008, 07:56 PM.
