Number of laps

Can someone please explain why races are 3 or 4 laps. Thanks again

Couple of reasons. Time to get all classes ran, course gets to rough on shorter courses. Sure there are more

Back in the days of the Merc Challenge we ran 5 lap heats. Sounds easy right? We always ran elims. I ran DSH and 25 and by the last heats of the day it was difficult to squeeze the throttle due to fatigue. Finals were 12 boat heats so the rough water didn't help any either. We run 4 lap heats in USTS and now it's hard being a deckrider in 1100 runabout running 3 heats.
