  • Can anyone tell about this boat?

I'm not a racer, purchased this hydro hoping to get my grandson interested in racing. Since he's still underage I will be using a fishing 18 Merc for a while in a local lake. Would like to know something about this hull. Is it still a legal race hull or too old? What class and engine would it handle from min to max. Who made it and maybe how old is the boat and who owned it. It has an EROC Eastern Outboard Racing Club decal and at one time it's number was the "94-N" . The hull is still in great shape requiring minor repairs. Looks like who ever built it was a pro!! Any info is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Rodney

    94-n

94-N belongs to Dave Young. He's on here and I'm sure he'll chime in. I pretty sure that is a B hydro which uses a Sidewinder/Hotrod motor.

      Thanks Shawn,
Hope he sold it at some point. I know the person I bought it from here in Augusta is a very honest person. I hope we didn't wind up with a painted cover up job.

The boat is built by Bill Giles of Taunton Massachusetts, an absolute legend builder and racer in this sport. I don't know your specific boat but I've seen it on here before and I believe the previous post is correct - a B hydro which would use a 15 cu Sidewinder / hot rod.

Does this mean that it can only run in B hydro and not in A hydro? Also thank you for the info.

              Ken,
Called Bill and I was surprised what a nice and informative racer. He got me interested actually racing myself as a 64 rookie in B hydro besides getting my grandson involved soon also. Shouldn't have never called, now a whole new adventure possible for me besides fishing and boating on Lake Strom Thurmond.
I'm going to contact Mel Thomas in 96 SC and Ray Bird in Conway SC their not to far away.
I'm not sure to thank you or fuss at you, after talking to Bill. I see big dollars and fun in my future, never thought about me racing at my age .
