  • Hydroplane testing.

Aaahhh... nothing like a little father/son bonding time out on the lake. They built a hydro together, and are now out testing and enjoying it on a nice spring day.

...Be sure to watch the end!

Ever heard of a warm up lever.
At least he took it slow.
The friggin' engine broke! Not the boat

Looks to me like they only had it clamped on with the thumb screws, no bolts, and it rotated on the transom.
Lucky it did not come into the boat, as it appears to be running up the port side at the end.

My favorite part was the sound of Chewbacca in the Chase Boat when they showed it in slow motion.....

You are correct, I thought I saw something still on the transom.

This happened to me a long time ago, I must have been about 17. We set up a 14' Hydroswift with a 1964 Johnson V4 60hp. I didn't secure the steering adapter plate with screws to the transom. Being in a hurry to run it, I only bolted one transom clamp through the hull. On our maiden voyage on Lake Lytle in Rockaway Oregon, on the backstretch, I was doing some quick S curves checking the handling and the boat kept going faster and faster. The engine was walking up the transom, angled, then quickly became a sea anchor.
To add insult to injury, the 15-20 mph wind was blowing us away from the dock.

Pretty funny but sad at the same time poor old dad forgot to clamp the motor down tight good thing he never got it up speed or it might have been pretty ugly

                Awesome!

This is so COOL! Perfect music- the extra guy in the boat made it interesting too. Awesome ending!! as the old saying goes- when in doubt, trim it out!? Hope you got your ol`Merc back...
