This might be a stupid question but why don't the drivers wear Kevlar pants etc. ? These boats are powered by twin turbo 525 HP engines on a 38 foot boat with props the size of my car that would cut my house in half! yet they wear shorts and a t-shirt while in sanction competition.

Maybe its a silly question but when you see a ASH or J driver dressed like they are going off to war with so many layers of kevlar etc. then the Super V guy walking to his boat looks like he his on his way to eat crabs in the back yard.



Why don't they zip on rum and eat pretzels while under way I am seriously confused on this one.

Does being in a capsule wearing a safety harness mean you will not get cut ? I think NOT!

I am not certain, but would our current kevlar and or spectra really save you from a 38 foot bohemith slamming into you for a direct hit ? I bet those huge props would still cleave right through what we wear now. Well over 100MPH I believe, and with all that weight behind it, bend over and kiss it.
