  • Testing Oregon Scientific Camera

Got my new toy, this is shot with the ATC2K, I also have the ATC3K.
The lexan body didn't hold the camera very secure, but it came out OK.

Next I'll post forward and backwards views from the Milwaukie OR race, with both cameras mounted on the helmet.

First I've heard of that, if you don't violate the helmet color rule I don't see how that's going to be enforceable. Was it Rick S. that "banned" them?

            Here We Go Again

Oh boy. Pretty soon you won't be allowed to have porrta potties at the race sites because it is a saftey issue.........

Time for these dudes to lighten up on shoving all these saftey issues down our throats. We are the only friggen racing organization that will ban helmet cams used to promote the sport which is dying a slow death ? Come on........

Time to change the board I think.

Says who? the sport doesn’t have any public exposure as it is... at least these little cams allow the footage to be posted to places like YouTube and the like where someone might watch it.

again you speak without knowing anything about the deal................put one on your freakin helmet then Dave............ I forgot............you know what best for EVERYONE!

besides Mr. Mason, the board did not make the decision, but a VERY EXPERIENCED referee....................I will relay the message to him that you would like him replaced.............

LOL, yeah, I was going for lots of donuts and 180's to see how jerky motion would effect the image quality. Now I wish I would have done big high speed ovals to simulate racing, not enough time...

I still crack up every time I try to go under that little Geo, CLUNK then it all goes black, ha ha.

Dan, we have a very strict ref in region 10...

you get better footage anyways when the camera is mounted on the boat or some other location besides the helmets.............

I will get video from this weekend, I just have to devise alternate mounting methods now is all. Oregon Scientific has a rubberized strap for helmet mounting that allows it to be on the side of the helmet instead of the top.

For anyone interested with the specs of this camera ( Gopro) it weighs 4.6 oz's with batterys installed and measures 2.5 inches by 2 inches in it waterproof case. The weight was measured by a digital postal scale.

                          Unsafe because????

That is not much weight, and the rubberized strap sounds good too. Strap it on ! Hopefully it will be allowed.

In the past the only coverage we received was maybe a blip on local news, and the countles videos people took at the races for personal enjoyment and memories. Now all these cna be posted on a popular website like You Tube and enjoyed by anyone. These helmet cams are awesome for the sport, no matter where you mount it. Darren seems to know where to mount it..

Replace the ref we need the footage and the sport needs the exposure.
