Learning how to drive a Formula 500 boat the hard way

Poor guy never stood a chance if you listen to the motor rev as he enters the turn he never lifted his foot of the pedal to set the boat he just whip the wheel while holding the pedal down wide open! I could be wrong but my past experience in OPC tells me he never set the boat by using the trim or gas. Granted these boats will turn while wide open you still have to set the boat using some method.

Dan ya slide the pipes this guy had something else happen??? stearing problem most likely

I dont think you set these boats by sliding the pipes. I have not driven one of these but I would think it is a combination of using the throttle and the trim to set the boat. With our hydros you can let the pipe back and slide into the turn but these boats are completely different.

Based on my OPC experience I was thinking the same thing but since I have never driven a F500 hull so I have no idea what the combination is. Pat might be onto something if his steering cable broke loose maybe James Aderholt or Yvonne might chime in on this since they both drive F500 hulls. The driver in the video seems to have problems turning the boat even at slower speeds which is why I thought he might be learning.

You set an F500 boat like any other tunnel boat. Throttle and Trim to set the boat (plus pipes). The boat in the video is a Fort boat. They are noted for the difficult recovery after a turn. The new engines with more horsepower and weight have almost made the Fort boat obsolete. He could have had a problem with steering, but it looks like he just came into the turn a little to HOT!

Yeah, he definitely never set the boat for the turn, and looks like he was trying to slide the boat hydro style but tunnel hooked.
PS; that was some really annoying music…..
