  • Creative Vado HD camcorder

Ok folks since I plan to really push HRTV in 2009 and beyond I suggest that all you pit wife's and crew members start saving now to buy one of these neat little HD cameras. Just like the Flip Mino HD all these little pocket cams allow you upload directly to YouTube which means you do not need any additional editing software etc. just plug and play no video editing skills or software needed.

Click the up arrow located on the far right hand side of the video to activate the HQ quality version.

$200 each ... you start handing them out and I'm sure racers will start using them

      Sam,

Racers are not poor! if they were do you think they would have the disposable income to race? nothing is free anymore so please don't make a big deal about the price tag on every little thing. Sure times are tough but the sky is not falling and yes we will all make it through these tough times one way or another.

      Think positive!

I bought some kind of video camera last year but I haven't seen it in several months (kids have it). I don't know how to use it anyway. I'll try to get it to some races with me. Hopefully there will be someone present smart enough to use the thing (that rules out most of the drivers from LA and MS ).
        ...

OMC FE/SE powerhead parts for sale. Kurcz ported block, Mod 50 pistons and cylinder head, exhaust, etc.

You guys might want to check out these small WATERPROOF vid cameras,...though you might need to figure out a tiny windshield/lens wiper for it.

JUST $200?! Sounds very reasonable to me.

My only concern is the zoom capability. A camera or camcorder needs a good zoom to capture the racing action from shore. Otherwise, the boats look too distant. (I've learned this from experience.)
I am already on the market to upgrade my video equipment.

Actually, more than a wide zoom ratio, you want a long focal length. The longer the overall focal length, the "closer" you can get to the boat/s.

                  Hey Jeff,

Yeah thats the only draw back of all the little pocket HD cam's some do have 1x & 2x zoom which still would not get you out on the race course. The plus side is these little cams would make you sign up more often for patrol boat duty where you could really get some great HD footage of boats going into and out of the turns

I picked up a Creative Vado HD last week, it's convenient and fun. The quality’s not bad either. Great to have especially with a baby at home.

I hope to attend both, if so I'll do a little taping. I'll ask little "Ms. Maggie" to hold off on any milestones that week

Oh great I can hear it over the radio now: "Turn boat 1...did you see a chop on that last lap?" My reply: "uuhhh...I dunno, I was busy filming that other boat."

                            (Just kidding)

Oh, but editing is half the fun!

I think every deck rider in 1100cc runabout should be required to carry one of these camera's. Maybe we can mandate it by pushing it through as a safety rule.
