Much like horse racing here in North America.
Ever wonder why there is a loop on the back of your steering bar on your Yamato?

              Japan Racing

I watch this clip. I think we are missing something here. That was exciting. Close racing around a one bouy, last to second in one turn, bumping and running. Got my attention. Maybe we could have one design boats, and blue printed motors for different classes. Prop and driver the difference. We need spectators and sponcers. Just a though.

Look for the spectator with a big grin on his face and a pocket full of cash!

They are not classes, it is not boat racing as we know it. Click the link below and read.

Holy crap, a one second allowance for the start! No wonder they're always lined up so close at the start, you blow a few starts and your fired, or you get lane 6 (total guess).

It would be nice not to have milling wakes though.

I get a kick every time I listen to one of the races, I can't understand a word, but the announcer sure gets me into it Then again, having someone read the ingredients off a box of cereal, in Japanese, would probably sound the same to me

                        Interesting how different minds think..
This is boat racing at a professional level, some of these drivers have raced at the Pro Nationals over the years and in the seventies and eighties and even in the 90's when the boat counts were 40 or more for 250 ,350 ,500 cch
they always finished in the top 5. Don't remember if any ever won. Jim Mckean while flying back and forth from Japan brough the first Yamato's to the states in the 70's
and there are Yamato's running in (as you guy's know)
stock mod and pro always run well and are considered the best engines made by many. They pretty much cut there
pro engines for what ever reason but some still race and do well.. We race mostly for fun these guy's are the real Pro's as they earn the kind of money that Pro Ball players and race drivers here do..
                        Pat Wright

Pat don’t sell your self short, I disagree 100% just because you earn a large sum of money does not make you a better driver or a "Pro" this is controlled stadium racing "gambling" so what exactly makes the driver such a "pro" conditions never change, compared to what you guys come up against every weekend. We all know where Yamatos come from so that was not my point; my point was this is not the same type of circuit racing that takes place around the world.

This is a real as racing gets in my mind... Just because it has gambling and is in a stadium why is it not racing... the planning of the moves on the course some of these drivers make is really good. Every corner they place the nose of their boat an inch behind the the guy they cut inside... really impressive and really tallented if you ask me.

The conditions are no more controlled than any motorsport facility.

It may be different than SO-Mod-PRO... but it certianly is real, intense, inpressive, exciting, RACING. Everyone was glued to the screen who watched it I bet.

Agreed though, not anyone can just go sign up and enter the race... but many motor sports are like that at the high levels.

So everyone here in the states that races in Stock Mod and Pro are just "playing" ?
