If it is, that is rediculously awesome and how do we get one, let alone the TV coverage that they get?

Yes that is a JumboTron screen made by Sony in the middle of the lake, they also have bleacher seating. Boat racing in Europe and Asia is on a complete different level then boat racing here in the states. For example at any given race they only run OSY 400 and nothing else or OSY 400 125cc 250cc 500cc and a few tunnel boat OPC classes my point is the schedule might only included 6 or seven classes which allows them to put on a real "show" and not a sun up to sun down borefest. There equivalent to Stock Outboard racing is OSY 400 one class take it or leave after that you race the Alcohol classes.
There is no Mod, Stock and Pro, no APBA no NBRA no AOF they all simply follow the UIM rule book and have a ball!
One governing body equal great racing without all the BS plus sponsors.HTML Code:

Take a gander at the Formula 250 Forums. The drivers are not very happy in Europe. They have little control over schedules, conflicts, etc. No doubt, there are some great ideas and innovations in the "O" racing, but there are short comings as well. My guess is that the drivres will take control of their classes, schedules, etc., go through a tough learning curve and end up with a series racing similar to USTS, APR, etc.
The grass is not always greener......but that Sony screen is awesome!!

Hey Dave,
I check out the F250 site all the time, even if they decide to switch over to a different format the resembles the USTS they will still come out ahead. The USTS format clearly works and is one that should be looked at by all groups both here and abroad.HTML Code:

IT is a good format. I think the key is to work things, such it can be supportive of local racing also. That will especially be true in Europe. Not everyone has the time to drive all over the country. The challenge is that big events or sponsors often have a set date and this can be disruptive.David Weaver

Dan- Good stuff. I've always wanted to go over there and see it for myself or race somethin over there...but i'm working out the kinks to come to flordia next october to see the 250 worlds with Zach. Should be fun to see that type of racing in the states!

I can tell you from experience, being on the launch crew is exciting!! You want to get your driver a great start. The anticipation is amazing. The guy pulling the rope is sweating with a fast, beating heart waiting for the starting flag to twitch. The "pushers" have to be in sync and very quick to react.
The best starts come from practice, practice, practice.
I can see some late evening runs up to Lake Lanier for practice, assuming that rains sometime again in Atlanta's future!!David Weaver

more US Title Series classes, my guess is the bigest difference in Eurpoe and USA is Lemans starts as well as numbers of boats allowed on course. We prefer Clock starts in USA with limits on #'s That said I believe you need to attend a Title Series race also to see how the Alky riggs of today have developed. Maybe even race one from time to time.(Zack can help with that)

The World's race will not be a USTS event. We will have to get you to another race site. We expect to return to Raleigh in 2009.
My understanding is that the classes will be:
O125
O175
O250
500cc Runabout
1100cc Hydro
I have not heard of other classes racing "in support", but it is possbile. Thse classes alone would create 20 heats using the normal UIM format of best 3 out of 4 heats for points.David Weaver
