I voted for it.
I have never run a merc 15 in competition and probably never will. But I think in the last 2 years we have had mercs run in A several times just to make the boat count we needed to get on the water.
I will continue to run OMCs untill I can have a "winder" on "da backa ma" boat.
I do not feel that kicking the Merc out of A will actually "Free up" any motors for J. I feel those that will sell their J Merc to free up cash for new equipment will do so even if the motor stays legal in A. Beside how often does anyone actually sell their BEST motor?

Hydroracer is hardly an accurate place to take a poll. There were 72 ASR drivers this year, and 103 ASH drivers. I have a hard time believing all of those drivers are representing their opinions here. You can't make an informed decision based on what you see on our leisurely forum.

I will admit that not all racers participate in the discussions and polls on hydro racer. However it is a better polling place then email as the response is from a lot more racers then any email poll I have taken. A better form for it would be to require comments on why its your opinion along with the answer you give to the poll.

The response of 95 or so votes is a major portion of the A class. We have quite a few racers that run both hydro and Runabout. So the total driver list for the A class is not hydros plus runabouts.:bond:


That being said, this poll did what I wanted it to do which was open up some debate on the Merc in the A class.
