  • Record Holding water ski Champ Passes

Ray Defir, Corbett Oregon passed away at 81 years old. He held the G Book of Records for non stop water skiing for 1000 miles! He built great all wood boats called 'DeFir' as well as Rayson Craft Fiberglass models. Ray was the fellow who restored Andys 1962 Rayson who raced in the ski class with Robin starting in 2001, our first event for v-drives. Link:

I didnt know him well but will not forget the scolding I received at his first event when I told him to replace the bronze prop and rudder, they were illegal. He kindly mentioned that they had survived some 40 years, so what was my problem!? Later we revised our strict rules just for the ski boat class running about 50 mph to have its own set of rules.
Condolences to Rays Family from our Nosties!
