Well
Changed my mind, I aint going. I'll stay home and work on my boat. Just got the new balsa trimmed and fitted into it and should be glassin this weekend. So why not try to make Trout Creek for the june race??? I could install a simple carburetor to simplify things a bit. The blower manifold had to go to the machine shop for mods and i dont have finished race ready carbs, so I think the old 830 will go on that I ran last year. The boat should run 70, behind my cruiser Buick with State Patrol engine! Stay out of my way Dave!
Anybody know how much sanding is involved when refinishing a flat bottom? Not to mention the gallons of paint required!

The Geek said that not many flats were going from his side of the mountain, I tried to call Jimmy D on Monday to see if he had made up his mind, but He did not return my call, so I don't think he is going either.
I might be talked into going to Burley if somebody needed my help Hint, hint!
But thats all I know.

I'll be here hunting for Vinyl Ester resin, West Marine has filler but no resin....Last edited by Jerkizoid; 04-23-2010, 12:01 AM.

That means?
The difference between a pro-stock running in the apba and the nosty boats is about 9 to 10 m.p.h.. That is a fast 80mph nosty and a heavy last place Pro stock boat in apba. Slap some mud in that hole in the shark and run with us this weekend. I may have some resin down at the farm but not sure it's the right type. Jimmy d.

Well, now, after another 3 hours of sanding, I see I can log on, install my Jerkish Captains cap, and shed more Greenlight (energy efficient ya know) on that tunnel filled with dislusionists and ignoramouses. Not saying he's wrong, even he knows the real difference between a Pro Stock and Nostalgia craft is $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ My estimate would be app $40,000.00 give or take a few nickels! now divide that by 10mph and we have a winner! $4000 for every mph! Sign me up AARP!
So in the interest of green jobs and the prolatariate, I will keep burning 40 grit, grit my teeth (that means be content with an old skow with a hole) and wait for my MUD to arrive from California! It seems there is no one in this area wanting to sell or share their precious Vinyl Ester Resin which reaks of modern technology and sticky fingers but, most important, is good mud for an aging skow like mine. It resists water! Like some boat owners I know!
Now I have the utmost respect for the Beisemeyer crew who splashed a Shark (my #57) for their omnipotent b-boat. It was so bumpy and crude, they must have used a truck loat of BONDO before that famous boat could be born! There, I've said my Obama approved, non prompter involved speech! Rough draft of course, like others I know! Race on Former Thoughts! I'm not wasting precious time and money, like you is, so there! Well, that depends on what 'is' means, right Hillary?

Roving pit reporter
Larry stated 3 flats, over 10 ULs and the same # VINTAGE Hydros! Two Jones flats and one Nostalgia Pro Stock. All races blown off Saturday 30 mile winds. Drivers meeting today, 7:00 AM! Should be better weather from what I see in Spokane.

Opening race
Major problems: Brent, Davis-Weber and lots of GP boats were towed in after a few laps.
The lovable 1953 Hallet vintage hydro driven by Jerry from Big Sky Montana caught fire leaving the pits! This is the 145 Flathead ford hydro that ran with us so many years! Could have been a gas fire as someone speculated and the starter powered the boat away from help! Jerry suffers burns to his hands and feet! (This could be very bad, I dont know, he flys broken Commercial airplanes for a living! I would suggest to self to always wear my gloves.
Lots of motor carnage, is the report I get........
Vintage Hydros had so many boats, they had to run three separate heats! Who would have figured old boats would be so popular? Me!

Engine
problems, commonly referred to 'catastrophic mechanical failure' per the favorite show, 'Pass Time' is not fun!
#1 #2 rod left its cylindrical attaching points was what happend to my 427 last year which is no fun! Oil everywhere, holes in the oil pan, block, wallet, broken camshaft, bent valves, oil in water which is now in boat bottom, water in oil etc..........Foamy sticky stuff
Jimmie had just about as much fun in Moses Lake. First having to sit idle on the beach all day Saturday while the cyclone commensed, and then bang on Sunday.
I heard a lot of GP hydros broke bunches of stuff also.
Anyone hear how bad Brents motor was? He has the same engine builder, incidently.
Lots of capsule, exposed outboard rudder talk abounded for a competitive flat bottom. Nostalgia stuff costs way less! And we run 20 mph slower, SO WHAT! It's my cup of tea, thank you very much!

Howdy Randy
this cracker should have won Burley 2 years ago instead settled for 3rd! those placing higher in Nostalgia (love the Outlaw comment) broke out! Randy, I sure do remember our dual sometimes side by side while under 80! Your small block runs good or it could have been your driving! The boat you raced against is in the first picture getting needed repair so I dont know if I can get her done in time! No, I dont need a ride without the benefit of a steering wheel!
Two layers of mat and resin done. One or two to go and then paint!
